Real Madrid Star Jude Bellingham Undergoes Shoulder Injury and Set to Miss Early Part of Season
Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham underwent shoulder surgery Wednesday and was expected to miss the start of the upcoming season. The club said in a brief statement that the England international needed surgery to address recurrent dislocation of his left shoulder. The procedure was successful, it added. Bellingham will now undergo a period of rehabilitation prior to returning to training and starting his recovery, the club's statement said. Madrid did not say for how long Bellingham will be sidelined, but Spanish media reported he could be out two to three months. Madrid opens its La Liga campaign on Aug. 19 against Osasuna. He is also expected to miss some Champions League games and likely England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. The 22-year-old Bellingham had been nursing the shoulder injury since 2023 but was delaying the surgery to avoid missing time with Madrid and England. He had been able to play while wearing a brace. Bellingham played at the Club World Cup in finishing his second season with Madrid after joining from Borussia Dortmund.

Real Madrid star Bellingham to miss start of La Liga season after surgery
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is expected to miss up to 12 weeks recovering from a shoulder operation, after the Spanish giants said he had successfully undergone surgery. 'Our player Jude Bellingham has undergone successful surgery for a recurrent left shoulder dislocation,' said Real Madrid in a statement on Wednesday. 'Bellingham will now begin a period of rehabilitation prior to his return to recovery work.' While Madrid did not specify the expected length of his recovery time, Spanish media have reported it will take about 12 weeks for him to return to action, putting the star player out of action until the third week of October. Bellingham has been struggling with shoulder discomfort after dislocating it in a La Liga match in November 2023, and playing with a brace under his shirt since then. The England midfielder held off on the operation until after Madrid's participation in the Club World Cup earlier this year, with Xabi Alonso's side reaching the semifinals. The 2025-26 La Liga season begins for Real Madrid on August 19 with a home match against Osasuna. Bellingham is set to miss the La Liga Madrid derby against rivals Atletico in late September, as well as the club's first two UEFA Champions League matches. The 22-year-old midfielder should be back in action by the time Madrid host Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season in late October. 'I've got the point where … I'm fed up with the brace, and having to tug on it and having [other] players tug on it, and it rearranging all the time,' said Bellingham during the Club World Cup. The midfielder will also miss World Cup qualifiers with England against Andorra and Serbia on September 6 and 9, respectively.

Real Madrid star to undergo surgery on Tuesday
A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been pencilled in for a surgical procedure on Tuesday. That's according to journalist Alberto Pereiro of Onda Cero, who point towards Jude Bellingham as the player in question. Advertisement Bellingham, for his part, has long been playing whilst some way short of full fitness. This comes owing to a shoulder injury, which has seen the England international suffer a series of relapses over the course of the last 18 months. When taking to the pitch, Bellingham sports heavy padding on the shoulder in question, no doubt hampering his mobility to at least some degree. The decision, in turn, had long been made for the 21-year-old to undergo a surgical procedure upon the conclusion of Real Madrid's campaign at the Club World Cup. The exact date for as much, until now, had remained unclear. As alluded to above, though, on Tuesday, confirmation has arrived courtesy of Onda Cero that: Advertisement 'Bellingham undergoes surgery today in London.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Revealed: Jude Bellingham's worrying return date as Real Madrid star 'prepares to undergo shoulder surgery this week'
Jude Bellingham will reportedly miss months after he completes a long-awaited shoulder surgery this week. In May, it was confirmed that the Real Madrid star had planned to undergo the procedure after the conclusion of the Club World Cup, which ended on Sunday with Chelsea 's 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final. Bellingham has struggled with the persistent problem since 2023 and worn strapping on his shoulder when playing for his club and England. He delayed surgery through major competitions like the Champions League and Euro 2024 and the Club World Cup, but his patience ran out this summer. 'I'm fed up with the brace,' the 22-year-old said last month. 'I'm at that point where I'm ready to have a free shoulder and a free body.' It is understood that Bellingham will have to wait until at least mid-October until he suits up again, according to Spanish outlet Sport. The expected rehabilitation time is around three months if all goes well, possibly stretching to four. If the latter reality unfolds, Bellingham may be out until as late as November. Thus, Bellingham is set to miss the start of the 2025–26 season, including the first eight matches of La Liga, first two Champions League games, and possibly the first two international breaks in September and October.
